Antioch Christian Church is the little old church on the hill, in the heart of where East and Downtown Winston-Salem, NC meet. We are currently small in number but BIG in LOVE! Driven by sound doctrine and the love of Christ, we invite you to come worship with us on Sunday mornings.
The story of the first Antioch Christian Church here in Winston-Salem, NC, was organized in 1905, and was first named The North Main Street Christian Church, it only had twelve members. The twelve members met in a basement on Ellis Hill. In 1921 Rev. Miller and Rev. H.G. Fleming served as pastors. In 1942 The church name was changed to Antioch Christian Church. The Rev. Garther W. Roland was called as pastor in 1965. Under his leadership Antioch continued to improve in all phases of church work. The mortgage was paid in full and the mortgage burning ceremony was held on December 15, 1974. In 1978, a new sanctuary was added and on April 1, 1979 we moved into our present sanctuary. In 1997 Rev. James A. Gilliam became the pastor, and under his leadership we continue to strive, and grow; trusting and serving God along the way. |
Our Identity |
Our Vision |
We are a non-denominational church. We are a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. As part of the one body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord’s Table as God has welcomed us.
“Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.” ~Romans 15:7 |
Our vision is to be a faithful, growing church, that demonstrates true community, deep Christian spirituality, and a passion for justice.
"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." ~Micah 6:8 |
Our Mission
To be and to share the good news of Jesus Christ, witnessing, loving, and serving from our doorsteps "to the ends of the earth."
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
~Acts 1:8
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
~Acts 1:8
Our Confession
As members of the Christian Church, we confess that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and proclaim Him Lord and Savior of the World.
